Senior Carer 

One of our experienced senior carer's is stepping down to a carer role before retirement, which means we are now recruiting for an additional senior carer. This leaves a great opportunity for you to join us if you have the right values and approach to leading care!

First and foremost we expect you will have a caring attitude, be a team player and play a role in developing and supporting our great carers.

You will be expected to help the senior team plan and deliver high quality care by communicating effectively, promoting dignity, choice and independence. Our senior carers share our on call system on a rota basis and at times, are expected to be flexible around working hours.

Although we offer a competitive hourly rate plus, travel time and double time for bank holidays, it is the difference that our carers make to people's lives and the friendly atmosphere that so many of our carers value so much. We are keen to develop our staff and happy to provide training in addition to the usual mandatory training.

Home Carer

To support elderly and disabled people in their own homes.  Such support should enable clients to live as independently as possible.  The carer must ensure that intervention is sensitive and appropriate to the needs of the individual. Work in a person centred way.  Communicate well building relationships with the client, their family and other health professionals when required.  The carer will also promote equality and diversity.

Nature of Carer Role

The carer should assist clients with personal care including:

  • Strip washing, bathing and showering
  • Applying creams, lotions and powders
  • Rising and retiring
  • Hair care
  • Maintaining oral hygiene. This may include denture cleaning.
  • Assisting with medication
  • Booking in medication
  • Administering eye drops
  • Use of commode or toilet.  This may involve emptying commodes and chemical toilets and disposing correctly of incontinence pads.

The home carer will also help clients with every day activities such as:

  • Housework
  • Laundry/ironing
  • Preparing and cooking meals
  • Telephoning and letter writing
  • Attending to visitors
  • Accompanying clients on excursions and visits
  • The carer should also be prepared to simply provide company.

  • Able to recognise their own stress triggers and be willing to talk to someone regarding the way they feel

Support, Training & Terms 

Carers report to the Team Leader or Registered Manager

  • Company induction for all new carers 
  • Support to take Care Certificate for all carers new to the care industry  
  • Provisional contract - usually 3 months, but may be increased to 1 year
  • Weekly supervision for the first 3 months as standard for all new carers 
  • Quarterly supervisions and yearly performance appraisals
  • Performance-related annual bonus, awarded on following criteria: reliability; willingness to assist when other staff members are unable to work; assisting clients more than what is required by their care plan; being punctual and smart at all times; attending at least the required number of staff meetings; being kind and considerate to other members of staff; promoting Rose Care at all times.
