Originally working for Rose Care in the office doing admin, Abi was so inspired by the care team around her that she decided to train as a carer herself. She now divides her time between being a Senior Carer and Office Administrator.
Background
Abi has always lived in Felixstowe. After leaving school, she worked in shipping until she married and had the opportunity to help run the family business which she did for several years.
Joining Rose Care as Administration Assistant in 2017, Abi’s original duties were to help our Office Manager, Michelle, with day-to-day office and business tasks. It was within this environment that she got a real insight into the busy lives of our carers and the difference Rose Care was able to make to the lives of our clients and their families.
Inspired by what she saw, Abi decided to train as a carer to work alongside her carer colleagues whilst retaining some office duties. Having completed her Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, she will be starting on her Level 3 qualification soon.
A versatile & rewarding role
Abi is the first to admit that she enjoys the versatility of her job, needing to divide her time between being a Senior Carer and Office Administrator. She meets and cares for our clients in the community and also spends time in her office role answering the phone and helping clients and their families remotely.
At Rose Care, our Rose Care Club enables our clients to meet up and make friends in a safe environment through outings and organized get-togethers. Abi arranges many of the Rose Care Club events for the enjoyment of our clients, from charity coffee mornings to trips out to a museum or show, our very own Christmas party or our much-loved, annual summer special - fish and chips at the Hut on Felixstowe seafront.
As part of the senior team, Abi is involved in our out of hours service, answering the phone to carers and clients out of office hours.
